The ethos of Louth Hockey Club is to be mindful, respectful and encouraging to all that attend our training sessions, whatever their ability or age, so that we can all enjoy hockey.

Ways to play

There are a number of ways in which Louth Hockey Club keep members, new and regular players engaged in the training programme.

Mondays see dedicated sessions for juniors, split between 5-9 years (6-6.50pm) and 10-12 years (10-12 years). And later in the evening, there is coached senior hockey.

Splitting the pitch during a junior training session on Mondays to incorporate a parents ‘Walking Hockey’ social session on one section of the pitch. This way instead of parents spectating they are joining in and becoming involved. This takes place during both junior sessions.

Monday and Thursday evenings are booked for hockey aimed at all above 13 so that families can come and experience a more casual training set up and game play.

Senior teams have the scope to feedback to club coaches so that coaching is more specific and it can be tailored to keep members engaged.

The club has become more flexible by offering training to both men and women over two nights in the week. The pitch is split so some activities are mixed and others are specific to the men’s and women’s game.

We have also offered 'back to hockey' sessions, which generally take place on Thursdays, for those who want to refresh their skills or play the sport again after a break of a few years.
